Meet Ayokay’s account manager, Jenny Jones! Jenny joined our team to help nurture client relationships and ensure that every project runs smoothly from start to finish. We took some time to chat with her about how Ayokay’s mission-driven focus drew her to the company and how music helps her reset between meetings.
Q&A with Jenny
Q: What is your position at Ayokay and how long have you been here?
A: I am Ayokay’s account manager and I have been here since February 2023.
Q: What drew you to working at Ayokay?
A: Ayokay is a mission-based company. I had been looking for an agency and the thing that really cinched it with Ayokay was its local involvement and commitment to making the world a happier and healthier place.
Q: What’s one thing that you wish people knew about your job?
A: It takes a big team of people behind me to get the work done. I go to my meetings and my client just sees me presenting it. But there are all these people behind the scenes working to make our clients’ work. And I don’t think our clients realize how many people are on the backend dedicated to helping make them look good.
Q: How has working at Ayokay expanded your professional skills?
A: It’s given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of organizations within the community and get to know my neighbors better.
Q: What has surprised you about working with clients?
A: Sometimes it surprises me how small but mighty our nonprofits are. It’s surprising but encouraging to see how we’re able to leverage such small nonprofit budgets. We’re really able to make the most of tiny budgets and get creative to help these smaller nonprofits shine. A little really does go a long way – please consider donating because they do really great work.
A: I know that live music is a passion of yours that helps you hit the reset button. Do you have any tips for hitting the reset button while at home in back to back client meetings?
A: This is going to sound ridiculous, but I’ve been trying to take more time for mindful moments throughout the day and between meetings. So if I have, I don’t know, five minutes between meetings, I’ll do a body scan. I check-in with myself and kind of reset. That sounds so woo-woo.Â
I also try to make it a point to be mindful about getting up and taking a little five minute walk throughout the day. Sometimes I get so in my zone so I like to be intentional about getting up walking around the office or down my street just to get moving and reset. And like you said, music. Music makes me happy. I can be having a bad day and then I’ll go cook dinner and put on some music. And that helps to reset.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: I really like live music. I like to spend time with my family around our neighborhood, too.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: Support our clients! Our clients do great work. I feel really lucky to be able to work with such a diverse group of people who are committed to making the world a better place. It’s so great to be able to lend a hand to helping empower organizations. It feels really good to be able to work with such a wide range of people who are all actively contributing to making the world better and doing good things. Being able to leverage our expertise to help them do that feels great.
